Grinning Pumpkin Bowl Fillers

Have to make this a quick post as the kiddo's will be getting off the bus shortly.
I've been working on a few Halloween/Fall decorations and wanted to share at least one for now.

I really wanted some Halloween bowl fillers as I have an empty bowl that was calling for something.  I came up with these grinning pumpkin guys;

Yeah, they look pretty happy sittin in there!

and I'm pretty happy too!
Have a great weekend :)

Decorating, Wreath & Lil Pumpkin Men

This past weekend, my husband brought down the fall decorations from the attic.  Although I love fall, I really wasn't in the mood for decorating...I have a lot of stuff!  On that particular day, I needed to go out and run a few errands, so my husband & daughter offered to decorate for me...what?!

Needless to say, when I returned home a couple of hours later so excited to see their work, I was horrified....the house was a disaster!  Apparently their idea of decorating was just emptying the boxes all over and laying things in rooms they thought they should go in.  I was a little stressed, but just said "thank you for laying everything out for me to see, it should go a lot quicker that way".  So what happened next....the stuff layed there for three days (sorry I didn't take any picts..ugh).

Yesterday, I finally got around to putting my things out and cleaning up, I just couldn't look at the mess anymore!  Here are a couple shots of my entrance way to the house....and yes I put up most of the Halloween items too;

Here is a quick wreath I made & put on the front door.  The first shot was without the flash, the second shot was with the flash...doesn't the second shot look as though it is on fire?!

Very easy to put together, took no time at all:)

As you can see I have a ficus tree on my front porch, I also have one inside my house.  I wanted to hang some halloween items in the tree so I came up with these little guys;

They were fun to make, just need a little bit of drying time for the decoupage & painting.
Add twigs for a stem and wrap with floral wire to hang.
Here they are in my tree;

Now all I need are some orange lights!
Enjoy your day:)

Hoot, Help & Enchiladas

First off, I have a really easy & yummy recipe that I wanted to share.  My daughter helped me make these last night and they were a hit with everyone, and I have some seriously picky eaters!  If you would like to try Creamy White Chicken Enchiladas, go here;
http://applegrovetreasures.blogspot.com/p/tasty-treasures.html

Second, I have had a few bloggers tell me they are having a hard time trying to comment on my posts.  They say everything freezes up or takes a really long time to download.  I have no idea what is going on.  I know that if you have a lot of flashy items, raining images or music this can slow things down, but I don't have any of these which would cause this to happen.  If anyone else is having a problem with my site or has any idea what is going on please email me at applegrovetreasures@yahoo.com.  Any help would be greatly appreciated:)

Third, I really wanted an owl to display for this time of year and since I didn't have one, I decided to create one!  Hoot is perched on a grubby wooden candlestick tied with twine & a rusty bell.  He was a lot of fun to make and is going to go great with some of my fall decor.

I have a few other items I am working on, one was a surprise from my dear hubby....will show you when I am finished!
Hope you all have a wonderful week:)

My Blog's Name

Karen over at My Colonial Home is having a drawing to celebrate her 4 year blog anniversary.  All that she ask, is that everyone explain how they came up with their blog name.  I have decided to join in on the fun.  You can go here if you would like to participate as well:
http://mycolonialhome.blogspot.com/2012/08/a-post-challenge-that-will-have-winner.html

I chose my blog name "Apple Grove Treasures" because I used to own an apple orchard in Maine...hence the "Apple".  We still own the orchard, but we have personally relocated and do not run it as a business anymore.
When it was open, we had a country store inside a big red barn that we built.  In addition to a variety of apples, we sold donuts, cider, pumpkins, baked goods, jellies, pickles and of course crafts....hence the "Treasures".
I chose "Grove" instead of orchard as it just sounded better to me, more cozy.  It also is my niece and nephews last name (Groves).  Just seemed to fit!

I opened a store years ago online with this name, but with all the things going on in my life at that time, I really just didn't have the time or desire to continue with it.  When we relocated to Florida, I decided to start blogging as I have always had an interest.  I began Sunday January 1st, 2012.  It seemed like a good way to meet people with my same likes and maybe get me motivated to start creating again.  Also I thought it would be a good way to record events that I wanted to share in our "new" life.
There you have it, my blogs name.  Maybe one day, when I get some of my old pictures of the orchard downloaded, I will share them with you.  Until then have a great day:)

A Great Weekend

Well, we are on to a new week, a new month and almost a new season.  Fall is just around the corner, so to wind-up summer, we had a beautiful end of summer lobster feast!  Not just any old lobster, but Maine lobster!!  My sister-in-law was kind enough to have a few shipped down.  It was nice to have a little bit of "home" after our big move a year ago.  I can't believe a year has gone by, time really does fly:)

We invited a few friends and enjoyed a great day of feasting, fishing and singing;

Feasting!

My husband cooked some chicken for the kiddos...they weren't too keen on tearing that lobster apart:)

Fishing!

Singing!

Our friends are entertainers and put on a fabulous show at the Waldorf here in Orlando.
They were getting ready to go to their gig but wanted to share some beautiful music with us first:)

My sister-in-law went crazy and also got gifts for each of the kids...too sweet!

The weekend ended with some great shopping, time at the pool and of course, Seaworld!
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well and here's to looking forward to a second great year in sunny Florida:)
