New School Year ~ 2012-2013

Today is the first day of school for my little ones. Here in Florida they start a little earlier than we are normally used to, but it's all good (especially for this Mom who really needed a break)!
To my surprise, even considering it was my youngest ones first day of Pre-K, there were no major issues! Of course I had to snap a couple of pictures;

Nick 10, Windsor 8, Nathaniel 6, Graham 4

He was even anxious to get into the car!  I was sooo nervous for him, but he did great!!
I can't believe it, my last one to go off :(

Windsor's First Communion
Saturday, May 12th, 2012

It was a beautiful day.  She looked so pretty and the mass was wonderful!

Father Hector was great with the kids:

My sister-in-law and brother-in-law came up from Bradenton to celebrate with us, they are her Godparents:

Their son Randy, who is her cousin but we call Uncle Randy:

(He was actually holding my bag for me, but I laughed when I saw it in the photo:)

Windsor with her three brothers:

Wonderful memories that I hope she will remember forever, I know I will :)

Spring Break 2012

So this weeks theme was creativity and spontaneity!  We started out with a coloring contest and I let each child judge the others artwork (remember they are 4, 6, 8 & 10).  I was pretty surprised at the kind scores and words that were passed along.  Also found out what they thought about themselves.  I must say, this was an interesting project that I suggest anyone with kids try out :)

As the weather was gorgeous, we did quite a few water activities.
Here's my 6 year old at the pool with his "Flat Stanley" school project he needed to do for the week;

We also went to Seaworld to enjoy their wonderful water spouts;

In between all of this water fun, we did quite a bit of shopping.  Now I'm not talking about big spending, but just driving along and stopping at flea markets, goodwill, garage sales, whatever came up as we were going by.  It was pretty fun, we found some great deals and even a free lunch of burgers and chips at a new grocery store that was having their Grand Opening!

We did pizza, movie night and enjoyed a campout in the livingroom...always fun!

Well, we still have today and tomorrow, so it's off to our next adventure, whatever that may be :)

My 10 Yr Old's Quick Project
February 28th, 2012

While I was helping my daughter with her homework last night, my son started digging through the recycle bin.  He grabbed scissors and tape, sat down at the table and started diligently working.  I didn't ask what he was doing, but kept peeking over every now and then.  After a while, I stopped paying him much attention as I was trying to teach my daughter a math problem.  "Mom, come here", he said.  I went around the corner and this is what he made;

A Parking Meter Bank!
"We can throw any extra change in here and when it gets full we can use it toward a fun family day!", he said.  I had to get a picture:)  Don't know where the inspiration came from, but I thought what a clever and thoughtful gesture.  So now, all the kids are excited and it's getting filled up pretty quickly!

I Love Getting These!
My daughter has been working really hard at school this period, and to show this commitment the school hands these out achievement awards.  She was so proud to bring this home!

And I was proud too..........You go girl!!

It literally brings tears to my eyes to read all these wonderful days, achievements and events. I wish I was there in person to witness them and give those four munchkins a squeeze but reading about them with pics is ALMOST as good :)
