Relief & Americana Wreath

First off, I have to say that it is such a relief to have the nice weather back.....Debby is gone!  The kids and I started getting cabin fever, but yesterday we were able to get out all day to get some errands done and todays weather looks even better.  My daughter and I got up early to go for a walk, not a cloud in the sky.....blue as far as the eye could see:)
But while we were cooped up I was able to get a cute Americana Wreath made.  I had seen this on this site http://ssbuffat.blogspot.com and really wanted to make one.  Mine is a smaller version and I really liked how it came out.  It was very simple to make:

These are all the materials you need:
a styrofoam wreath, felt (3 red, 3 white, 2 blue) and stick pins.

First, you cut out 2" x 2" squares from the felt

Starting with one color, you fold the felt in half

And then in half again

Using a stick pin, poke it through the corner of the felt and into the wreath

Continue doing this in each corner of the felt (you don't have to arrange them like this after your first initial pieces).  Place them close together to fill in any gaps of the wreath showing

This is how it should look after inserting many pieces.
Open them and twist them as you go to hide any stick pins or gaps showing

Keep the red and white areas the same size and make the blue double

Cut your stars out of the white felt and hot glue on.
(I changed my stars from the original one I saw, this was handier for me)
Finished....easy peasy!!

Hope you all have great weather your way and a wonderful day:)

Rainy Sunday

It has been raining on and off here in Florida for the past couple of weeks, but today it has rained all day so far.  The water was flowing really fast along the sides of the road into the storm drain.  The kids have been begging me to let them go play in it, so today was the day:

Sometimes ya just gotta have fun!

(ps.  Baths were waiting when they came in the door:)

Happy Flag Day

Boy, have I been MIA or what!  The kids got out of school last Thursday and then we had family drive down from Maine non-stop to visit, yes I said drive down non-stop.....yuck!  Anyway, we did have a great time with them and now they are headed back but are taking a couple of days to get there.  It was nice seeing them but I really need to get back on track.  I feel like the last 2 months have just flown by and everything is out of whack!  (Hey, I can rhyme)!
Hopefully I can get some activities going with the kids and start posting some summer fun:)  Have a great evening!

Feeling Better & Weekend Fun

Finally starting to feel a little better, from reading everyone's posts it seems as though a lot of people have been feeling under the weather.  Both of my son's are doing better, even though much of it has turned into a weird cold.

We were all able to get out this weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather.  Went to Downtown Disney on Saturday to see some really neat cars as well as the cast from "Cars" the movie.

They all thought that this car was pretty neat too:

Now what kid or adult wouldn't want to ride in that!

They got to take turns sitting in this one:

And these two were just a little different in size:

Had to include the General Lee (as I don't have too many pictures with all of us together):

On Sunday, we hit Seaworld (again).  We bought annual passes so it's nice to be able to come and go as you please.  I took on the Journey to Atlantis with my nephew Randy:

Sat in the second row, didn't get too wet but felt bad for the little girl in front of us, she cried after coming down the big hill:(

It really was a good weekend and lifted my spirits as well.

I have been taking a lot of pictures of the sky lately and just wanted to show you this one I took last night of the moon, right before it got too dark.  It was so pretty and obviously the pictures never do it justice:

Hope you all had a nice weekend and a great week going forward :)
