Cute Win & Spooky Candle Project

I have to tell you that I won the cutest giveaway the other day.  It was from Cathy over at Quiltaples.  She selected two winners and I happen to be one of them.  Well look who came flying down to Florida to live at my house.  He is really very sweet:)

Cathy was also kind enough to send along a little pear...I mean the guy needed a snack coming all the way from Maine to Florida...and some wonderful herb tea - love it!!  Thank you so much Cathy and anyone who wants to see some really adorable critters, stop by Cathy's blog:)

My daughter and I, yes she loves to craft with me - which I love, came up with an idea to create some spooky Witches Brew!  She had seen some plain glass bottles with neat labels in the halloween section of a store and asked if we could make some.  I thought it would be neat to grunge up some bottles we had on hand and make them look a little older and spookier.  Here's what we came up with;

We designed our own labels and decided to put some candles in the top.  I then proceeded to dip those in some red wax (she wanted a little blood effect) and added some stained cheesecloth around the necks.

It was pretty simple and fun, and you can actually burn them!  I could have used longer candles but I just had one on hand that I broke to make two.  When they burn down you can just pop in or out what remains and add more.  The dripping wax down the bottle also adds to the effect of the spookiness!
Have a great weekend:)
