Happy Easter

It was a good day today.
We started out with a fun Easter egg hunt at a local church.  They served lunch and had a bounce house and games for the kids.  When we came home we colored our Easter eggs and set them out for the Bunny.  We will go to mass in the morning as the evening masses are just a little too long for my little ones, especially the two youngest.

We will be hosting dinner tomorrow.
I can't believe this will be our 2nd Easter in Florida...
time is going by so fast!

Wishing you all a very Joyous and Blessed Easter:)

Spring Break...I'm Tired (& Wins)

The kids Spring Break started this week, actually last Friday.  We really didn't make any plans to go anywhere special, nor do we really have the funds right now.  I've been trying to be creative as far as coming up with things to do but honestly I'm pooped out!
Thank God my husband is taking off work tomorrow (somewhat) and we have nice plans for an Easter egg hunt on Saturday.  Sunday we will be hosting Easter Dinner at our house, my SIL, BIL & nephew will be joining us:)

We were able to go to the beach last Saturday, unfortunately I forgot my camera so I wasn't able to get any pictures.  We did however find some really pretty shells that I brought home and washed...my kids love looking for seashells:)

Yesterday I took the boys shopping and out to lunch downtown while my daughter was taking a class and my husband worked.  They hugged me so tight last night and said thank you, it was the best day ever!
It's funny how the littlest and unplanned things make them so happy.  I think the fact that it was just me with them made it special too:)
Wanted to share a couple of items that I won recently!

This adorable Quilted Star Table Topper is from Kelly at Scarecrow Cabin.
(I love to show how things come wrapped so nice:)

It is really pretty....I love it, thanks Kelly!

These cute hearts I won are from
Can you believe these are made from a cereal box!  She cuts strips, rolls them and then paints each one...phew, thats a lot of work but well worth the results!

She also included a gift card to Hobby Lobby!  Thank you so much JoAnn!

Thank you all for stopping by and wishing you a Good Friday tomorrow:)

Welcome Spring!

Happy Spring everyone!
Woke up this morning to some well needed rain.
It didn't last too long, in fact the sun is trying to poke through and temps are suppose to get up to the upper 70's.  They are predicting rain later tonight, which
I hope happens, who doesn't love falling asleep
listening to the rain:)
Finally put out some Easter decorations.
Did this while the repairman worked on my oven and one burner that wouldn't light.
Hooray, it is now all fixed!!  It has been three weeks!
I am going to prepare a nice meal this evening:)
Wishing all of you a wonderful first day of Spring ~

Boxes in the Mail

Well I have to admit, I have been on a lucky streak lately...knock on wood!
As promised, although a day late, I am posting the wonderful items that showed up on my doorstep!
These were from a giveaway hosted by
the Crafty Prim Sista's -
a couple of generous and lovely ladies:
 Libby of Rusty Shed Prims
and Deb of Vintage Country Farmhouse
It was a cute giveaway where you had to guess the number of marbles in a jar.
Well here is what showed up in the mail, I will let the pictures speak for themselves;

From Libby ~

From Deb ~

Oh my goodness, it was so kind and sweet of them.  I was doing a happy dance as I was taking everything out of the boxes!  Can't wait to start creating with some of the items, the rest are already up and around the house...my husband keeps noticing new things everyday!
I would like to pay it forward and do a giveaway of my own very soon, coming up with some ideas:)
Wishing you all a great Tuesday!

Birthdays

We have been very busy the past two weeks.
One of my close friends parents came by to visit.  It had been a couple of years since I saw them last.

Here they are posing with the kids, of course my youngest had to ham it up!

We also celebrated two birthdays!
My youngest turned 5 last Sunday and my next in line turned 7 this past Saturday!
Unfortunately my oven decided to call it quits so I couldn't make a homemade birthday cake.
I did however buy a small one at the grocery store for the 5 year old;

Then the next evening, his godfather showed up with this, as he wasn't able to be there the night before;

I thought that by the end of the week my oven would be fixed, but no, my handyman never showed with the part that we needed!  So once again, no homemade birthday cake for my other son:(
But then, Friday night I got a call from a woman who lives in one of our subdivisions.  She needed help making numbers for a penny auction they were having on Saturday.  Of course I helped out cutting numbers and stuffing envelopes.
On Saturday, after an appointment we had, we decided to swing by the auction and buy envelopes for each of us to bid on the items that were for sale.  There were so many things, especially for the kids to bid on and believe it or not, there was a cake a woman had donated.  Well, of course I bid on it as I had yet to pick up a cake for my son.  We stayed awhile as numbers were read to see if we won anything, and boy did we win, especially the kids!  They had a ball!
Then it was time to draw for the cake, no luck:(
That was ok, I told my husband to take my son to play tennis (which was his birthday wish..lol) and I would decorate and pick up a cake while they were out.  Well, as I was decorating, the phone rang.  It was my friend over at the penny auction telling me to come and get the cake.  She said the man who won it heard there was a birthday boy and wanted to give it to him!  How sweet!  Needless to say, the cake probably wasn't something that he would have picked out but he was so surprised when he saw the cake and remembered it was from the auction:)

We also came home with a ton more presents that we had won, which made his birthday even more special!  So all in all the birthdays worked out and so have our meals as we have been crock-potting and microwaving for the past week and a half!
Enjoy your week:)

Bright Eggs in Pots

I have been seeing so many cute crafts using terra cotta pots and eggs that I thought I would create one of my own.  I wanted something bright and fun for Easter.
Here is what I came up with:

These were really quite simple.  Here's a brief tutorial on how I created them:)

All you need is ~
Plastic eggs ( I used the larger ones because they fit perfect in the pots)
Small terra cotta pots
Acrylic paints (in Easter colors)
Pretty paper (I had some fun cardstock paper that I wanted to use)
Raffia
Mod Podge
Glue gun

First thing ~
hot glue your eggs shut

Next ~
cut your paper into strips (mine were about 4 1/2" long x 1/2" wide)

Next ~
paint the mod podge on one side of the paper and start covering your egg.  I found that it was easier to go around in an X pattern

I started out with about 16 strips and added more as I needed them, that way if I needed to cover smaller spaces I would just cut thinner strips

I then covered the whole egg with mod podge and smoothed over with my fingers to get out any creases or gaps

As the eggs dried, I painted the pots

Here are the dried eggs

I decided I wanted to label them so I came up with these round labels

I tied them on with the raffia and voila ~

As I said, they were really quite easy, a bit time consuming but worth it.  The kids have fun moving the eggs around in the different colored pots:)
And they fit perfect in my wooden tray!
