I Won An Award!

I would like to say "Thank You" to JoAnn over at sweetpepperrose.blogspot.com.  She was kind enough to nominate me for the Liebster Award

Head over and check out JoAnn's site, she is always coming up with some really clever
craft ideas!

Liebster is German for "dearest."  The purpose of the Liebster Award is to help "newbie" blogs with less than 200 followers get noticed with a sort of sweet "Shout Out" of attention, and likewise, a sort of "Pay It Forward" is included, to help other blogs get due notice and attention.

How it works:
To receive the award, the following is in order:

(1)Make a Post about your win putting the award button in your post.
(2)Link back to (& follow) the blogger who nominated you the award.
(3)Pick five blogs with less than 200 followers that you feel deserving of the Liebster Award  and leave them a comment on their blog to let them know you've nominated them.
(4) Tell the 5 blogs you've chosen to 'Pay It Forward' and 'Share some Blog Love' by following the instructions for 5 more newbie blogs.
(5) Share five random facts about ourselves.

O.k. first, five random facts about me;

1.  I am a huge couponer, not extreme, but with a family of six, I like to get a good deal!

2.  I used to be in Product Development.  I developed headwear for licensed sports, ie. NFL, NBA, NHL, NASCAR etc.  Also worked for Margaritaville developing products for Jimmy Buffetts stores.

3.  I Love Halloween, X-mas comes in a close second!

4.  My nickname is Booba...given to me by my oldest sister when my Mom brought me home for the first time, and I quote, "She looks like a Booba", never got out of that one.

5.  I am a little bit of a nomad - I am originally from upstate N.Y. (father still lives there), went to college in Virginia, built a home & family in Maine and now reside in Florida....but who knows for how long:)

O.k. second, my five nominees are;

1.  Country at Heart
2.  Huckleberry Lady
3.  The Gingerbread Gem
4.  Cherry's Prairie Primitives
5.  Pendleton Primitives

These are all great blogs by some wonderful people.  Congrats and don't forget to "Pay it Forward" :)

Visitors in My Own Back Yard

Since moving to Florida last August, I have been snapping some pictures of the visitors I receive in my back yard.  It is so neat to see all the wildlife right from my back screen room.  Thought I would share some of the photos I have captured:)

Gotta love this one, look at his hands & legs all stretched out - catchin' some rays!

It's always fun to see who's gonna show up next:)
Have a great weekend!

By the way, if you are interested in signing up for a really great "Christmas in July, Blogiversary Giveaway", then check out  http://frontporchprimitives.blogspot.com/  Steph is giving one lucky winner some really cute prim goodies.....my fingers are crossed!!!!!

Relief & Americana Wreath

First off, I have to say that it is such a relief to have the nice weather back.....Debby is gone!  The kids and I started getting cabin fever, but yesterday we were able to get out all day to get some errands done and todays weather looks even better.  My daughter and I got up early to go for a walk, not a cloud in the sky.....blue as far as the eye could see:)
But while we were cooped up I was able to get a cute Americana Wreath made.  I had seen this on this site http://ssbuffat.blogspot.com and really wanted to make one.  Mine is a smaller version and I really liked how it came out.  It was very simple to make:

These are all the materials you need:
a styrofoam wreath, felt (3 red, 3 white, 2 blue) and stick pins.

First, you cut out 2" x 2" squares from the felt

Starting with one color, you fold the felt in half

And then in half again

Using a stick pin, poke it through the corner of the felt and into the wreath

Continue doing this in each corner of the felt (you don't have to arrange them like this after your first initial pieces).  Place them close together to fill in any gaps of the wreath showing

This is how it should look after inserting many pieces.
Open them and twist them as you go to hide any stick pins or gaps showing

Keep the red and white areas the same size and make the blue double

Cut your stars out of the white felt and hot glue on.
(I changed my stars from the original one I saw, this was handier for me)
Finished....easy peasy!!

Hope you all have great weather your way and a wonderful day:)

Rainy Sunday

It has been raining on and off here in Florida for the past couple of weeks, but today it has rained all day so far.  The water was flowing really fast along the sides of the road into the storm drain.  The kids have been begging me to let them go play in it, so today was the day:

Sometimes ya just gotta have fun!

(ps.  Baths were waiting when they came in the door:)

Happy Flag Day

Boy, have I been MIA or what!  The kids got out of school last Thursday and then we had family drive down from Maine non-stop to visit, yes I said drive down non-stop.....yuck!  Anyway, we did have a great time with them and now they are headed back but are taking a couple of days to get there.  It was nice seeing them but I really need to get back on track.  I feel like the last 2 months have just flown by and everything is out of whack!  (Hey, I can rhyme)!
Hopefully I can get some activities going with the kids and start posting some summer fun:)  Have a great evening!
