Bright Eggs in Pots

I have been seeing so many cute crafts using terra cotta pots and eggs that I thought I would create one of my own.  I wanted something bright and fun for Easter.
Here is what I came up with:

These were really quite simple.  Here's a brief tutorial on how I created them:)

All you need is ~
Plastic eggs ( I used the larger ones because they fit perfect in the pots)
Small terra cotta pots
Acrylic paints (in Easter colors)
Pretty paper (I had some fun cardstock paper that I wanted to use)
Raffia
Mod Podge
Glue gun

First thing ~
hot glue your eggs shut

Next ~
cut your paper into strips (mine were about 4 1/2" long x 1/2" wide)

Next ~
paint the mod podge on one side of the paper and start covering your egg.  I found that it was easier to go around in an X pattern

I started out with about 16 strips and added more as I needed them, that way if I needed to cover smaller spaces I would just cut thinner strips

I then covered the whole egg with mod podge and smoothed over with my fingers to get out any creases or gaps

As the eggs dried, I painted the pots

Here are the dried eggs

I decided I wanted to label them so I came up with these round labels

I tied them on with the raffia and voila ~

As I said, they were really quite easy, a bit time consuming but worth it.  The kids have fun moving the eggs around in the different colored pots:)
And they fit perfect in my wooden tray!

Very cute Lori!! I thought it was fabric, surprised to find out it was paper. The tags are the perfect finishing touch. I know my kids would enjoy playing with them too, hehe!

Have a delightful week ahead~
