Sunday & Some Wins

Hope you all are enjoying your Sunday.
We woke early for mass this morning, then decided to head over to Universal and let the kids enjoy some rides.  After a few hours we left to grab a bite to eat at one of our favorite spots and then headed home.
I thought it would be the perfect time to sit down and do a little crafting but I ended up on the phone instead.  You know how that goes...a few minutes turns into an hour!  That's ok, it nice to catch up with friends and family:)

Wanted to share with you some of the wonderful items I was fortunate enough to win recently.
This is what came in the package that was on my porch yesterday.  (I just love the tissue paper:)

Two wonderful calico bunnies, a beautiful card and 3 adorable paper ornaments.
These all came from Theresa
I adore them!!!

I also had the pleasure of another win.
This came in the mail a little while ago and I apologize for not posting it sooner.  You see my daughter found this necklace to be very pretty.  She has since worn it a few times and has it hung in Her jewelry box!

These were made by Sue from the Wicked Faerie Queen.  She was kind enough to send me
a bracelet as well...maybe my daughter will be nice enough to share that with me:)
Thank you Sue, they are beautiful!

Nice Day Today

Today turned out to be a pretty nice day.
It was about 86 with a slight breeze.
My son had a class downtown so we decided that we would all go for a ride.  While he was in class we ended up running over to The Christmas Tree Shop.  Don't know if you have one of these stores around but they're pretty fun to shop around in and have pretty good prices.
I ended up finding a basket of Christmas items that were 90% off.
(Here I am talking turkey yesterday and now Christmas...lol)
Here is what I found:

A small snowman ornie, 3 cute little floral bundles and a bunch of these poinsettia clips with bells in the middle.
Nice thing is, I only paid 1.40 for everything!

After his class we headed home for a nice cookout,
burgers, potato salad and a yummy
cucumber tomato salad made
with chickpeas, mozzerella, italian dressing and a
little bit of cilantro.
And don't forget dessert, lemon meringue pie (you know me and pie)!

There was also a suprise package laying on my porch...
I'll share that one tomorrow!
Have a great evening:)

Talking Turkey

I know, I know, I'm suppose to be talking bunnies and chicks here but there are other animals out there "enjoying" spring as well...I'm talking turkeys!
I don't know if a lot of you have wild turkeys running around but just like in Maine we get quite a few passing by
pretty much every day here in Florida.
Well this morning, right before I was leaving to take my son to pre-k, this guy and his male entourage showed up at the bottom of my driveway..

boy was he showing off for the ladies!  He was turning and strutting and gobbling!

I tried to sneak around the house from out back to grab a couple of shots but he had no problem strutting right past me;

His head was quite white, which I looked up and found a few interesting facts (from Wikipedia):

"Males are polygamous, mating with as many hens as they can. Male wild turkeys display for females by puffing out their feathers, spreading out their tails and dragging their wings. This behavior is most commonly referred to as strutting. Their heads and necks are colored brilliantly with red, blue and white. The color can change with the turkey's mood, with a solid white head and neck being the most excited. They use gobbling, drumming/booming and spitting as signs of social dominance, and to attract females.  Males may be seen courting in groups.  Courtship begins during the months of March and April, which is when turkeys are still flocked together in winter areas."

You go Tom!

Have a great weekend:)

Happy Valentine's Day...Whole Lotta Love

Happy Valentine's Day!!
This image was taken from a card that my daughter made me, I love those homemade cards:)

Well today is the last day of Cindi's Whole Lotta Love...
thank you Cindi, it was a whole lotta fun!
I really enjoyed reading everyone's posts.
Today my whole lotta love is for my family...my mother, father and siblings...
but especially my mother.

My mother passed away on August 29th, 2010 from cancer and not
a day goes by that I don't think of her.
It still feels like yesterday and it was one of the hardest losses
I have ever had to deal with.
I still to this day think I can pick up the phone and give her a call.
She was never judgmental and always knew just what to say,
and if she didn't know what to say
she would just listen.  She was kind, generous and very giving.
She was one of the most wonderful people I ever knew,
in fact everyone called her a saint.

Here is a picture of my family Before I even came along.
(We always say that I am that blob floating in the right corner of the picture:)
As you can see I am the youngest of 5.

We all live far apart from one another, but always make it a point to keep in touch.
We are all grown up with our own children now.
My oldest brother has Down Syndrome and recently was placed into assisted living.
It was getting too difficult for my dad at his age to take care of him properly.
We all usually go home on the 4th of July to meet up but my husband and I
haven't been able to make it in the past couple of years.
Hopefully we can save up this year and possibly make the trip:)
I know we all would enjoy it, I miss them terribly!
Well that's the end of my whole lotta love.
There are so many more things that I adore but I think I've managed
to say the ones that are at the top of my list!

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day...
and remember to always spread peace, love and joy:)

O.k.,  I am still hanging in there.
It is so hard for me to take time out everyday to blog...believe me, I really want to, but finding the time seems next to impossible!

So here it is, 3 days in 1:

Whole lotta love, Day 9
Family time.
I know I mentioned my family before, but it is so important to me that we spend quality time together.  One of the reasons we relocated to Florida was because we were so busy with work when we lived in Maine and we really didn't want to miss out on our children growing up.
We owned a heating business that was run 24/7 and an orchard that was run almost 8 months out of the year.  Simply put, we had too much on our plate!
So we are here now and we are giving ourselves and the children the time that we so desperately needed.  Whether it be family game night or pizza movie night, we make sure to fit something in during the week.
So this week we decided on Saturday that we would spend the day at Universal Studios because of the start of their Mardi Gras!  We had a fantastic time, especially during the parade!  (Unfortunately I did not take any pictures as I did not want to carry my camera around, perhaps another day I will).
But I did capture this after:

and that is why family time is one my most favorite whole lotta loves!

Whole lotta love, Day 10
My tart burners.
Love em, love em.  We have gone through so many of these over the years, either wax was spilled down into the wiring or the tops have simply cracked due to overuse.

You can see that the one above is mismatched.  Probably somewhere down the line a top cracked and a bottom broke..lol

This is the newest one I bought hubby for his bday...he asked for it!
I love using the wax to coat candles or make pretty shaped tarts that I use as bowl fillers;

(I sent some of these to Michelle from Simple Pleasures as she was my Humble Heart Swap partner:)
Yummy!

Whole lotta love, Day 11
Baskets.
I have a lot of baskets!
I use them for decoration and as storage.
I feel as though I can never have enough.  Here are just a few picts of my baskets;

Have a great Monday:)

Whole Lotta Love...Day 8

Tonight I'm doing my whole lotta love on stars....
yes, I know, those darn stars, you'd think by now we would all be sick of them
but for some reason, we still have them, paint them and craft them.
They are such a strong presence in our primitive and country love.

Here are just a few of my darn stars:

Do you have a lot of stars?

Whole Lotta Love...Day 7

Today my whole lotta love is for Homespun:)

I really enjoy the look of homespun.

In quilts:

As runners or tablecloths:

In artwork:

As a craft:

As an accent:

Just stacked:

I even enjoy it just as a box of scraps:)

Do you enjoy looking at your homespun too?
